TRADITIONAL CRAFT WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN
Soule Homestead is proud to introduce NEW monthly Traditional Crafts designed for children ages 8-15. Each class runs for approx. 1 ½ hours in our classroom or outside! The time for all classes is 10:00 to 11:30am.Sat., JUN 12 - Hike with Us! Stimulate your sense and enjoy a narrated hike through our ¾ mile nature trail. Learn about some different types of plants, and tree’s in this easy walk. Create your own nature journal. Fee: Members $10 / Non-Members $15.
Sat., JUL 24 – Sheep to Friendship Bracelet! Come visit our flock of sheep, wash some wool, card and spin your very own friendship bracelet. Space is limited so reserve your spot now. Fee: Members $10 / Non-Members $15.
Sat., AUG 21 – Adventures in Old Fashioned Games! Put down your I-pod, turn off your computer and come play some old-fashioned games that exercise your mind and body! You’ll make your very own Jacob’s Ladder to take home! Fee: Members $10 / Non-Members $15.

All Skill levels are invited to participate. Samples of each basket will be displayed in the office prior to each workshop. Class fee for each basketry workshop: $20 Members / Non-Members $25 . Materials are included in the class fee and tools are provided for use by the instructor. Class size is limited - please pre-register by calling the office.

BACKSTRAP WEAVING WORKSHOPS
Instructor: Judy Goodwin of The Country Crafter (Hanson).General Information:
Come learn the basics of weaving by doing a backstrap loom project. We will be weaving without a loom. Project will be a band that will teach you the basics and may be incorporated in your next basket weaving piece. We will talk about expanding this to larger pieces. Handouts and materials included. Bring questions and enthusiasm. We will also have small looms to experiment with that include tapestry type looms and hole and slot looms. Have you ever wondered about weaving? Then this is the class for you to try. Pillow optional – this craft can be done in a chair or from the floor on a pillow. Class fee for each weaving workshop: Members $15 / Non-Members $20.

We work on projects together and participate in several events throughout the year, some of which include the following: Harvest Fair, Holiday Fair, Valentines Fundraising Dance, and Sheep Day. NEW! Volunteer Opportunity - WEAVING FOR MY SOULE – Monday nights 7-9pm
Instructor: Susan Anderson of Homestead Seatweaving & Basketry.All skill levels are invited to ‘drop-in’ for a series of basket and chair seat weaving workshops being held in the classroom on Monday nights, from 6:30-8:30pm, on the following dates: 6/7, 6/21, 6/28, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/16, 8/23, 8/30. Using donated materials and guidance from instructor, chair seat weavers will use traditional chair cane methods to restore a selection of ‘Soule’ chairs; basket weavers will use simple patterns to weave a variety of baskets for our annual fairs and thank you gifts. Free to those weaving seats or making baskets for Soule, or make a donation to keep the projects you make. Tools are provided for use by the instructor. Be sure to bring along any leftover material you would like to share, especially any dyed reed you may have. Donation of handles and basket parts, basket dyes, unusual weaving materials or buttons, ribbons, pins, mini ceramic pieces and assorted basketry embellishments are also welcomed.
